Fabrizio Faniello, Danica Muscat, Karen DeBattista, Maxine Pace and Raquel Galdes were all involved in the making of, by submitting their very own 'SMILE' selfies, seen by several hundreds of people through social media website, Facebook. This brand new single, which as already stated is a brand new entry on 89.7 Bay is also available for purchase through iTunes with an extended released by CAP-Sounds, play including "Red Hot Money" and "I Want that Girl", previously released with band Gypsy Genes, also included for a mere €1.49. In September, a local music scene competition, the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza takes place on the Floriana Granaries with past winners including; Amber, Ira Losco, Annabelle Debono, Miriam Christine, Mike Spiteri and most recently Fabrizio Faniello. Submissions for this year's edition of the music competition are being received at Media.Link Communications between today and tomorrow from 07:00 till 19:00 CET.

There have been no major changes in the regulations, but the format has been devised in a slightly different manner with the Talent Stabbilit section featuring a total of 30 semi-finalists, out of which 20 will make it through to the final stage of the competition as decided by a mixture of jury (60%) and public (40%) vote.

In the final, the result will be decided completely by a panel of professional judges with the public vote being awarded as a seperate prize. It is worth pointing out that in order to partake in the Talent Stabbilit, you would have to been a finalist in one of the following competitions in the past; Malta Eurovision Song Contest, Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, Malta Junior Eurosong, L-Għanja tal-Poplu or the International Festival of Maltese Song.

On the other hand, those who have not taken part in any of the above mentioned festivals, may still compete in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, albeit in the Talent Ġdid section which has been especially designed for such a purpose. Artists who wish to take part in the competition have to be at least 16 years of age by the 21st September 2014. Earlier this afternoon, submissions for this year's edition of the Summer Hit Song Contest officially came to a close and the organising committee has been in touch with to confirm a total of 72 submissions. In the coming days, a professional panel of judges will be listening to all of the songs, and judging them on their musical, lyrical and vocal competence. At this stage, one cannot speculate on either the quality of the artists or the experience of the vocalists but nevertheless, the number brings about optimism. through it's social media networks on Facebook and Twitter will be the first to reveal the official results of the 18 finalists along with the Official Facebook Page of the Summer Hit Song Contest. It is worth keeping in mind that this is the very first time that the music competition will be held on F Living, which has hosted talent shows such as Entertain Me & Don't Stop Me Now in the past. Due to the fact that a number of individuals found it difficult to cast their submission on Saturday due to the European Parliament Elections, the committee of the Summer Hit Song Contest have decide to re-open the submission process for just ONE day with BME Studios in Luqa set to welcome songs between 09:00 and 16:00 CET. For the FULL version of Regulations along with the Applications, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and it will be answered back as soon as possible. One important rule is that songs released after the 1st September 2013 and not competed in any festival could still be entered into the Summer Hit Song Contest.

The Summer Hit Song Contest aired on F Living will be giving the opportunity to 18 lucky finalists in search of a hit song for the season. It is worth keeping in mind that Janice Mangion and Francesca Borg were two of the artists who made it through to the semi-final stage of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest following their appearance in the Summer Hit Song Contest. Their songs 'Whilst Her Eyes Still Glow' and 'Take Me Far' were fan-favourites and well appreciated by critics, as to having been relative newcomers to the scene.

We would like to remind you that this is your last chance to submit songs in the Summer Hit Song Contest and should consider yourselves lucky to have such an opportunity. The panel of professional judges is expected to meet later on this week with results set to be revealed by the Official Page of the Summer Hit Song Contest as well as on Facebook & Twitter on Saturday. Good Luck to all those who have declared their interest in this competition and as a result has already posted their entries.

At this point in time, the local festival circuit has been witnessing a surge in competitions where the original songs have to be in Maltese, noting that the Malta Eurovision Song Contest remains to be the only one where English is the predominant language. This will not be the case in a couple of days time, as the organising committee of the Summer Hit Song Contest, which we are proud to support, will be receiving applications from those willing to partake in the event, being broadcast on F Living throughout the summer months. For the FULL version of Regulations along with the Applications, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and it will be answered back as soon as possible.

Against a fee of €50, each submission should be original in both music and lyrics, and no longer than 3 minutes 30 seconds in duration. It is worth reminding lyricists in particular that the subject cannot be interpreted as to being either political racist or anti-religious as those would definitely be grounds for immediate disqualification. If any artist, who submits more than one entry, gets through with two, then he would get the opportunity to perform the one with the highest amount of points, with the other songs either passed onto other performers or withdrawn from the competition at the discretion of the songwriters. Submission of entries will be received at the BME Studios in Luqa on the 24th May 2014.

It is worth keeping in mind that one of the main aims will be to give the 18 lucky finalists due exposure as the judges search for that hit song. Amber, former runner-up at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with Answer With Your Eyes and Karen DeBattista, 2014 winner of L-Għanja tal-Poplu with Jien Ma Naħdimx were just two of the many artists who kick-started their career during the Summer Hit Song Contest. Previous winners include none other than; Miriam Christine, Romina Mamo, Minik ft. Siconix and Neville Refalo. We urge you to stay tuned to even on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

In 2008, a brand new competition known as the Summer Hit Song Contest was given birth, with the aim being to submit entries with a particular flavour, one which the radio stations across the country would have no issue in promoting through airplay. A professional panel of judges assessed the quality of each respective submission before reaching a verdict, one which gave rise to the comeback of Miriam Christine.

Alone Today which the female singer/songwriter wrote also got a music video which was played on national television. In the following years; Neville, Romina Mamo, Minik and Siconix also established themselves as winners of the competition, denoting the rise of new talent and establishing a brand. F Living has decided to revive the competition, led by stalwart Deo Grech with the submissions set to be received at BME Studios in Luqa on Saturday 24th May 2014.

Each submission is to be handed in against a fee of €50 in total. There are cash prizes to be won by the top three of the competition, whilst the winner of the sms voting will get a seperate award as to ascertain a professional choice. For more information, visit the Official Facebook Page. On the 15th September, the final of the Malta Summer Hit Song Contest will be aired on F Living with the recording set to take place in the weeks preceding the date. We urge you to stay tuned to for all the latest news.

Earlier this afternoon, Media.Link Communications held a press conference launching the 23rd edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza to much fanfare with Claudette Buttigieg announced as the new chairperson, whilst being supported by Noel Castillo, Charles Stroud and Frederick Zammit. The latter two, both being former Chairmen of the competition bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table having together orchestrated some of the most successful editions of the local song competition. With songwriters such as Chan Vella, Marlon Polidano, Renato Briffa and Joe Chircop in attendance along with representatives of Kurt Galea and Domenique amongst others, it seems that the interest is quite existent.

The brand new rules and regulations left the people in attendance somewhat unimpressed though, noting that instead of having a separate award for tele-voting, it has now been included as part and parcel of the final result, albeit at a 40% margin as opposed to the 60% margin. Those present argued that this is unfair especially when considering that the winner of the former tends to be quite different from the one of the latter. Only one song had achieved both trophies in the past, that being Deborah C in 2012 with the song Jekk Nużaw Moħħna written by Mark Spiteri Lucas and Joe Chircop. Other notable changes in the rules and regulations are that instead of having two separate phases in the final, they will merge seeing to the competition of twenty-three entries, with the winner of the Talent Ġdid portion still given a separate award.

A positive about the document presented to those present is that thirty entries in the Talent Stabbilit will all be presented during Indifest, as will fifteen entries in the Talent Ġdid. They will be brought down to twenty and three, respectively for the final night of the competition which will be held in the week leading up to the fiftieth anniversary since Malta gained its independence. One of the major pre-requisites that the committee is pushing towards is the establishment of the proper terms to accompany the categories present. In the Talent Stabbilit, only artists who have been in L-Għanja tal-Poplu, Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, Festival Internazzjonali tal-Kanzunetta Maltija, Malta Junior Eurosong  and the Malta Eurovision Song Contest are allowed to submit songs whilst the other category, Talent Ġdid will only be open to newcomers. No age range has been given in any category in order to ascertain entries from anyone. For any queries or any clarifications, the committee could be contacted through this This email address is being protected from spambots.
