Ira Losco, Malta's representative at the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest, has just launched a new music video to accompany her 6th single ‘Dead or Alive', from her album ‘The Fire”. The singer/songwriter has been lying low for a few months in anticipation of this release, which has yet again, given her fans much to talk about.

The video was shot in Manchester with Video Ink, the dynamic team who also directed her number 1 single ‘The Way It’s Meant To Be.’ Fans will be surprised to see a very different Ira performing in the mysteriously beautiful Morecambe Winter Garden Theatre built in the 1800s. Ira also had to brave the icy January cold on Morecambe Beach, in yet another scene in the video.  Two fighters in silhouette represent the internal conflict, which Ira sings about in the track.

“Dead or Alive’ is, lyrically, one of the darkest tracks on the album. It is a track which underwent a major change during its recording. Originally the song had a more country approach, but once I heard Howard’s (Jagged House) take on it we both knew this was the way to go.  It is a high-energy song, which many of the fans kept insisting should be a single when ‘The Fire’ came out, and they were right, it totally works” said Ira Losco.

The singer/songwriter  is currently about to enter the recording studio to start work on her new album in preparation of another busy year ahead. Howard Keith added “ Ira’s determination to try out new things and to avoid repeating herself makes her very unpredictable as an artist. It’s not the easy road to take but artistically I would say far more rewarding. I would like to thank all the endorsements supporting our ideas with a special mention to Vodafone for their collaboration on this video“.

Ira Losco’s latest album ‘The Fire’, which is still in the top 10 iTunes album charts since its release in March 2013, can be purchased from all digital portals. Fans are asked to visit Ira Losco’s popular YouTube channel, and Official Facebook Page where they can find more info about the artist as well as the latest news. Glen Vella, a male singer/songwriter who requires no lengthy introduction, having amassed considerable a positive reputation over the years, and as a result, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in the local music industry, was Malta’s representative in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “One Life”. He tried his luck once more, in two different scenarios, the first being in 2014 as a songwriter for the song “Love Will Take You Home” sung by Franklin Calleja, which managed a respectable 7th place, and the second as a lead vocalist with the song “Breakaway” co-written by Simon Gribbe and Kevin Borg. The male vocalist also plays an instrumental part in the Gospel Choir, Animae and has recently taken on the position as Director and Tutor at Vocal Troupes.

Stefan, an 18 year old student and music artist, has spent months in the studio working hard on his new sound, vocally and musically. This time he has teamed up with a successful team of local writers who have written and produced various hits for the Maltese market. ‘Escape’ is written by Matt (Muxu) Mercieca and produced by Carlo Gerada. Dance is the genre which best describes this song, setting out to appeal to the club dancefloors. The modern sound gives it a fresh twist, something which is very current in today’s music industry.

The song puts forward a message of a relationship which is not living up to it’s expectations, and even though the individual seeks to try everything in order to save his relationship, he knows that it is still of no use, which is why he must forget and move on, therefore he must ‘Escape’ from the love he shared with his partner.

Stefan gained critical acclaim for his debut single ‘Disco Lemonade’ which charted at 12 on the local iTunes charts, and for being a finalist in the Malta Junior Eurosong 2009. He has had the opportunity to perform as a supporting act for Malta's best selling singer/songwriter Ira Losco, the UK pop duo The Cheeky Girls, The beatles tribute band, and also Texanna at the Farsons Great Beer Festival. Last December he also formed part of the cast as a chorus member in the highly acclaimed MADC panto ‘Rapunzelstiltskin’.

The single ‘Escape’ was mixed and mastered by Elton Zarb, special thanks to Ally for the vocal coaching, with credits to Marlon Polidano for the official press photo and also to the fashion designer, Parascandalo Marco who dressed up Stefan with items from his collection. Franklin Calleja, a respected male vocalist whose ascent to the top of the local music scene has been well documented through the depth of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, has taken his residency on "Ħadd Għalik" to a whole new level by virtue of performing a previously unheard original song, one which was submitted for the national selection in 2014. "Made for You", composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Miriam Christine speaks about two individuals who are made for each other, and need to find a way to be together at all costs.

The emotional ballad, which has a beautiful arrangement, somewhat reminiscent of "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill, did not get through to the final stages of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014, even through Franklin did manage the feat, with yet another stunning ballad "Love Will Take Me Home" co-written by Glen Vella, Beatrice Eriksson, Marcus Frenell, and Michael James Down. Victorio Gauci, a male singer/songwriter, who is instantly recognizable as the lead vocalist of The Crowns, a local band which also features Gianluca Cappitta, Luke Vella Clark, Jean-Paul Mollicone and Chris Ciantar, is very experience despite a relatively young age. Having been through to the finals of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, L-Għanja tal-Poplu, the Summer Hit Song Contest and the Malta Eurovision Song Contest as a solo performer, Victorio does not look back, and seeks to grow his reputation, albeit as The Crowns' lead vocalist. In 2010, Thea Garrett had went on record stating that "music in life practically means everything, and that she aims to push as hard as she could in order to achieve her life's ambitions". This was audible during the postcard, prior to the performance of "My Dream", composed by Jason Paul Cassar to the lyrics of Sunny Aquilina, which would go onto triumph, winning almost the entire support of the professional panel of judges, and the public at home.

In a recent television interview with Owen Bonnici on the programme 'One Night Stand' which airs on ONE Television, Thea Garrett said that she would not consider going a step backwards and returning to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The reasoning was that other opportunities should be taken as new avenues are explored. The singing sensation, now based in the United Kingdom, recently made it to the latter stages of a casting call for a role in the hit musical 'Les Miserables' on the West End. "No Surrender", an entry in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2011, and also title track of album number #6 for male singer/songwriter, Fabrizio Faniello might be taken more to heart, rather than rekindling his career in music, after going public with a drug addiction problem, from which he is still recovering. During a recent television interview with Peppi Azzopardi during "Xarabank" on Television Malta, the male vocalist revealed that the main aim behind the chat was for people to acknowledge their problem and seek support.

Fabrizio Faniello represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions, first in 2001 with "Another Summer Night", composed by Paul Abela to the lyrics of Georgina Abela and then in 2006 with "I Do", a song which he co-wrote with Aldo Spiteri. Since his comeback in 2011, with the aforementioned "No Surrender" co-written by Johan Stentorp and Johan Bejerholm, Fabrizio has gone onto win the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with the song "Aħfirli Jekk Trid" composed by Dominic and penned by Rita Pace.
