The European continent is currently brimming with talent actually with a total of four countries hosting their their very own respective semi-finals as they start or rather continue to bring down their entries to a minimal number so that the jury and the public at home would have a slightly easier decision in the long run. Opinions are diverse as always but not everyone can ever be happy with the result and that is something which brings about interesting debate when it comes to genres, styles and even vocal techniques. The semi-finals that were held last night include those in Lithuania, Sweden, Norway and Hungary.

Starting off with Scandinavia, there was a lot of hype around Sweden who were holding their first semi-final of the 2012 Melodifestivalen and there were quite a number of surprises so to speak especially due to the fact that former representatives of the Eurovision Song Contest including Afro-Dite from 2002 failed to make it through to the next stage of the competition. Nevertheless, the show was organized quite brilliantly having watched some of the performances including those of the non-qualifiers unfortunately. Another showcase that has really been putting the fans in a good place is that in Norway and last night, the final semi-final took place with yet another three acts making it through to the final which will be held next week. The results for both nations are shown below along with their respective performances where possible.

Norway

  1. Petter Øien & Bobby Bare - Things change
  2. Tooji - Stay
  3. Yaseen & Julie Maria - Sammen

Sweden

  1. Loreen - Euphoria (Final)
  2. Dead by April - Mystery (Final)
  3. Sean Banan - Sean Den Förste Banan (Second Chance)
  4. Thorsten Flinck och Revolutionsorkestern - Jag Reser Mig Igen (Second Chance)
Moving into the next two areas of Europe, both seem to be deep tied within the Baltic region although some may still not consider Hungary to be a part of it but nonetheless, last night they hosted their second semi-final and the second in a space of just two weeks and now the finalists for the final showcase have also been decided according to both the jury and the tele-voting. In the meantime, the situation in Lithuania was similar but not exactly the same especially due to the fact that the shortened version of a long process has just begun noting that the broadcaster being LRT has called for the inclusion of four semi-finals this year with the jury results normally released the day before the show airs but then again, the tele-voting might change everything considering the weighing that it has been given. The results for both nations could be seen below.

Hungary

  1. Tibor Gyurcsík - Mozi szélesvásznon (jury)
  2. Nika - This love (jury)
  3. The Kiralys - Untried (jury)
  4. Juli Fábian & Zoohacker - Like a child (televoting)
Lithuania
  1. Beissoul - Why
  2. The Independent - Baby
  3. Multiks - Star
