The Public Broadcasting Services launched proceedings to organize the 2012 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest at the end of summer and when the competition gained ground, it was important to keep up the pace. Hence, when the twenty four (24) semi-finalists were published, it was important that the people start making their decision through a vote which they could only cast once through their respective Internet Protocol Address in order to ensure full security. The event which will be taking place today and tomorrow, has gained a lot of credibility over the years although has been somewhat in a dark light with most of the press due to the non-accessible showcase.

The people have cast their votes and it seems like we have some extremely clear results of the songs that should according to the people make it through to the final stages of the competition. There was quite a large input this year because whilst last years' amount of votes cast was by 3222 individual users, this year, things have been different with the vote reaching a total of 4616 individual user votes. We are now going to publish the list of qualifiers in alphabetical order according by name as has been the case with regards to the presentation of critical opinion of each entry. Another innovation is that this will be the only poll to be conducted for 2012 in terms of the national selection in Malta meaning that the winner of the Public Choice Award will be the winner of this poll which will be revealed in due time.

  1. Amber - Answer With Your Eyes (Ray Agius / Alfred C Sant)
  2. Annalise Ellul - Whoop It Up! (Elton Zarb / Deo Grech)
  3. Claudia Faniello - Pure (Philip Vella / Gerard James Borg)
  4. Danica Muscat - Seven Days (Philip Vella)
  5. Deborah C. feat. Leila James - You Make Me Go Uh Uh (Patrick Renier / David Vervoort)
  6. Dorothy Bezzina - Autobiography (Magnus Kaxe / Gerard James Borg)
  7. Eleanor Cassar - I Want to Run Away (Paul Giordimaina / Fleur Balzan)
  8. Fabrizio Faniello - I Will Fight For You (J. Bejerholm / N. Edberger / R. Uhlmann / W. Fenech)
  9. Gianni - Petals On a Rose (R. Abrahamsson / A. Aly / M. Numhauser / T. Fenech)
  10. Janvil - You Are My Life (George Platon)
  11. Jessica Muscat - Dance Romance (Philip Vella / Jessica Muscat)
  12. Kaya - First Time (Gorgi)
  13. Kurt Calleja - This Is The Night (Johan J'Amtberg / Kurt Calleja)
  14. Lawrence Gray - In Your Eyes (Philip Vella / Cher Vella)
  15. Nadine Bartolo - Can't Get Away (Philip Vella)
  16. Richard Edwards - Look At Me Now (Jan Van Dijck / Richard Micallef)
  17. Romina Mamo - D.N.A. (Michael Johannes Tanczos / Gerard James Borg)
The list includes seventeen names because the sixteenth entry was a tie between two songs but it was the only tie. We will not reveal which songs were tied for the final position but the above are an indication leaving all the others waiting to see whether their faith this evening will lie based on this result or whether their live performances will inspire both the people and the jury inside the hall for support and general aid. It will be quite an interesting situation to see who things eventually develop during the evening.
