There has been a lot of concern in recent weeks with regards to the venue for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest due to the fact that as the entries are now being decided, the event was still not known where it would be staged but the European Broadcasting Union can now officially confirm that it will indeed be hosted within the Baku Crystal Hall found in the capital city of Azerbaijan. This was the main proposal of the Azeri broadcaster and after careful assessment, it was proven to be suited to the requirements sought by the governing body.

The Baku Crystal Hall was actually commissioned to be built just weeks after the victory at the Eurovision Song Contest and it is an arena which features a full capacity of 23,000 viewers. For the purpose of the largest musical event in Europe, there will be 16,000 spectactors in the hall for each of the respective shows. Speaking on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union was Jon Ola Sand, the new Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest and he stated 'We are excited to hold the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in a brand new, state-of-the-art concert hall. Now that we have the assurance that the construction will be ready in time, we can look really forward to the contest'.
