The Maltese representative at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will be none other than Kurt Calleja with the song 'This Is The Night' written by Johan Jämtberg, Kurt Calleja and Mikael Gunnerås. He managed to win the pre-selection despite being an outsider and he did so by winning the tele-voting portion of the competition as opposed to the jury which put him in a respectable second place. His first task is surely to pass the semi-final stage on Thursday 24th May 2012 as the event takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is trying to accumulate as much support as possible hence a promotional trip around the continent has already been prepared by the Public Broadcasting Services.

In recent weeks, Kurt Calleja was a guest during the Azeri Final for the musical competition but after that, he came back to Malta before flying off to Germany days late for what we have been told to be the mastering of the track to be presented. The Maltese broadcaster has also ensured appearances for the artist in the Bulgarian final this upcoming weekend alongside acts from Cyprus, Denmark and France whilst staying abroad to visit the Lithuanian nation for their respective national final during the course of the weekend. He will be doing so alongside the French representative Anggun who seems to be making an effort to appear in as much countries as she possibly can with a brilliant song.

Many people have noted that such tours might not be beneficial and that might be or might not be true but as things stand at the moment, it is quite important that the song is presented to the audiences because the betting odds on Malta are very low, with the best ones being a one in eighty chance of winning and placing us last to qualify from the semi-final stage. Current favourites include Ireland, Denmark and Norway. Work needs to be done with the hope of impressive the people in Europe alongside the judges from the various countries who will be voting in the second semi-final on Thursday 24th May 2012 where Kurt Calleja will be competing.
