The Netherlands have been hoping to reverse their disappointing results for quite some time but it seems that the Dutch broadcaster; TROS who took up the challenge just three years ago is ready to make the most out of the experience by appointing none other than the well known John Del Mol to take care of the process. Indeed, her has spearheaded the preparations for the national final whose submissions reached well over four hundred (400) the most that the nation had received in a very long time. In the end, six (6) songs were chosen and they will compete in duels during the Nationaal Songestival 2012.

As already noted, the interest in this selection process was quite high noting that the country has not organized a multi-entry national final in quite some time, somewhat since 2006 when the group Treble took to the stage with the song 'Amambanda' failing to make it to the finals of the competition. Since, then there has also been a chance in broadcaster of course leading to much more interest even amongst the public. It is quite interesting that well known stars such as Edsilia Rombley, De Toppers and the 3Js all tried to bring back victory home but were all somewhat disappointed with non-qualification. This time round, the six (6) songs they are presenting are going to face each other in a set of duels.

Duel 1

  1. Joan Franka - You and me
  2. Raffaëla - Chocolatte

Duel 2

  1. Kim de Boer - Children of the world
  2. Ivan Peroti - Take me as I am

Duel 3

  1. Pearl - We can overcome
  2. Tim Douwsma - Undercover lover

The winner of each duel will ultimately be decided through a 50% Jury Choice and a 50% Public Choice with another vote being given only as advice by an international panel of judges. Three acts will advance to the super-final from which the Professional Jury along with the Public will be weighing in for another time to pick the song that should ultimately represent The Netherlands in Baku, Azerbaijan where they will be competing in the second semi-final alongside Malta. The Nationaal Songfestival 2012 will be taking place on the 26th February 2012 and will be covered by the Editorial Team of www.escflashmalta.com live so stay tuned for more information as soon as it becomes available.
