The Ukrainian selection for the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest set to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan has just come to an end and the representative chosen is none other than the Afro-Ukrainian artist who goes by the name Gaitana. She competed alongside another twenty-one (21) acts in a selection that was held during the late morning till the early afternoon. The various genres presented might have not really gone down well with the people but in the end, the top three were songs which many spoke positively about.

The voting for the selection was based through 50% Tele-Voting and 50% Jury which comprised of well known people in the Ukrainian show business including Valid Arfush, Olena Mozgova, Yehor Berkendorf and Semen Gorov. Gaitana was the favourite of these experts with the song 'Be My Guest' but then again, the people wanted Renata to win with the song 'Love In Sunlight Rays' which did not fare well with the judges, not even making the top three in the end. In second place at the end of the selection was Max with the song 'Dance' having garnered just three points less than Gaitana with 38 points and in third place was Oksana Nesterenko with the Ralph Siegel penned song 'Mondo Blu' getting 35 points. Ukraine will compete in the second semi-final alongside Kurt Calleja and his song 'This Is The Night'.
