One of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years has surely been Norway finishing in the top five for the very first time in five years back in 2008 when Maria Haukaas Storeng and her track 'Hold On, Be Strong' finished in fifth place. The following year, they came back with a vengeance and managed to win the competition thanks to Alexander Rybak and his song 'Fairytale' which racked up the most points in the history of the event. Since then though, the country is yet to impress once more and they will be looking to change that this weekend when the final of the Melodi Grand Prix is staged with one particular entry being in the forefront position.

The song that is in the lead is entitled 'Ola Nordmann' performed by the group Plumbo featuring a pop/folk performance with just a slight hint of rock. It is quite interesting to see that the fans seem to be in agreement but then again, the interest in the show has also turned towards the interval act which is set to feature Alexander Rybak. It was a last minute change actually as last years' winner being Stella Mwangi was the one supposedly performing but the demise of her father in the past couple of days has made that impossible and thus the broadcaster; NRK made sure to bring in someone whom the crowds always have warmed up to in the past. Apart from this, it has been further reported that there will be a special performance by the performers in the 2012 Melodi Grand Prix. Stay tuned for more information on www.escflashmalta.com as soon as it becomes available.
