Malta: Kurt Calleja Meets The Prime Minister

Early this afternoon, the Maltese delegation that will be travelling to the Eurovision Song Contest set to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan made up of Kurt Calleja, Chris Calleja, Kevin Calleja, Rebekah Spiteri, Warren Bonello and Ylenia Vella as performers as well as Anton Attard, Joseph Mizzi and Peter Carbonaro, the Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and Artist Manager representing the Public Broadcasting Services met with the Prime Minister at his Office at the Auberge De Castille. This sort of well wishing is normally done closer to the day when the delegation leaves the country for the event but for some reason, this was done extremely early this year probably not to schedule any conflicts in later weeks.

The performer who won the tele-voting last Saturday but came second with the jury is set to sing his song 'This Is The Night' in the first part of the second semi-final in May and it seems that we managed to get a glimpse of them simultaneously as we were onsite outside the office where the whole team had been waiting for their ride back to their respective locations. Other people who seem to have been present include the parents of Kurt Calleja. The singer is also due to fly off on his first promotional visit in just a couple of hours with the show in Baku, Azerbaijan set to take place this Sunday night. Their national final will ultimately pick the performer and despite the country not voting in the semi-final in which Malta is in, the broadcaster thought it was best not to refuse the invite.
