The Malta Eurovision Song Contest might be over and the result has been decided with Kurt Calleja and his track 'This Is The Night' co-written by Johan Jämtberg, Mikael Gunnerås and the singer himself garnering victory with a total of 84 points by virtue of finishing on top with the viewers at home and also second place with the jury. Nevertheless though, the response has been quite underwhelming with the runner-up entry 'Pure' performed by Claudia Faniello composed by Philip Vella and penned by Gerard James Borg being touted as a possible top five contender at the Eurovision Song Contest by some of the most influential media journalists. The song has shown it's true potential today by finishing at the top of the Itunes local charts beating Adele and her track 'Someone Like You' into second place.

The singer who first burst out onto the music scene by making it to the Malta Song for Europe back in 2006 with the song 'High Alert' composed by Ray Agius and penned by Godwin Sant has grown into one of the most successful artists in the local music scene and her release of the album 'Convincingly Better' proved this leading a record shops' album chart in sales but this is the first time that the international downloading platform known as Itunes has been led by Claudia as she joins the likes of other local artists including Wintermoods who have been at the number #1 position. This is quite the feat for the young performer who is definitely looking to break the foreign markets. It seems like this can be her swansong in the long term as the foreigners wanted her to win and it seems like most of the Maltese agree, somewhat putting a dent into the actual winners' success which has already been unjustified following this major success by Claudia Faniello.
