The stigma related to classical music is somewhat demeaning noting that many believe that it is not current for the people growing up today but when you hear world class voices who excel in climbing a certain amount of ranges, one would definitely stop and listen. The local music scene has evolved in several areas but then again, it is to be noted that classical music remains the forte of the country noting the success of the renowned tenor, Joseph Calleja who most recently gave a concert alongside Gigi D'Alessio and Ronan Keating as well as the astonishing soprano Gillian Zammit who was also part of the same concert noting her involvement as the director of the children's choir who accompanied the concert in all of the tracks especially those performed in duets. Gillian Zammit has been a name to be reckoned with and she returns with a brand new album entitled The Love Songs of Paolo Tosti.

Gillian Zammit studied in Italy with the likes of Carlo Bergonzi and Victoria de los Angeles earning herself the reputation of an extremely versatile performer when it comes to opera having sung items from Baroque to Twentieth Century. She has been in a number of productions including Tales of Hoffmann, Gianni Schicchi, Semele and The Turn of The Screw amongst others. The fact of the matter remains that whenever a review of Gillian comes up in a magazine or a newspaper, it is always extremely positive. Amongst the conductors that she has worked with in recent years include Stark, Paolo Ciardi, Brian Schembri, Michael Laus and Cristian Sandu. One of the most exciting projects that she worked upon was definitely the recording of a fourt part compilation series celebrating Maltese Cultural Heritage under the direction of Maestro Joe Vella. She also has quite the job of training new performers being the tutor of a choir known as the 'The Drama Troupe Choir' which performs all around the country.

She is also known as a pianist and therefore, it is not the first time that she has accompanied her very own choir on special occasions especially having obtained ALCM diploma in pianoforte. In recent months, the talent that is Gillian Zammit has been discovered by a recording label by the name of Claudio Records and thus she has just released her debut album entitled The Love Songs of Paolo Tosti. She will be performing her new material in a number of venues in due time of course but you can purchase a copy of this debut album through, www.ooii.com.mt which is one of the leading shopping websites in the country.
