Nirvana Azzopardi, a spokesperson for Malta at the 1999 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, awarding the maximum points to Charlotte Nielsen and her entry Take Me to Your Heaven, has unfortunately passed away following a difficult battle against breast cancer. At just forty years of age, Nirvana was a mother of two and had become a noted television personality as well as a defining individual within the artistic world having co-founded the popular Teatru Unplugged back in 1998.

One of the earliest reality shows in the country, that being Flat 4 was also hosted by Nirvana but nevertheless, her most notable work was being one of the presenters behind the elite Malta Song for Europe noting that the cream of the crop have always been asked to host the notable event. The list has included the likes of; Charles Saliba, Valerie Vella, Elaine Saliba, Keith Demicoli, Eileen Montesin, Mireille Bonello, Gianni, Marbeck Spiteri, Antonella Vassallo, Claire Agius, Moira Delia, Lou Bondi, Josef Bonello and Rodney Gauci. On behalf of the editorial team of escflashmalta.com, we would like to wish her family sincere condolences.
