In 2008, Kevin Borg, runner-up of the 2013 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest recorded a massive victory in Idol, Sweden noting that he had been the favourite throughout most of the series. The following year, it was the time for Erik Grönwall to shine. A twenty-five year old singer/songwriter from the locality of Knivsta. He was signed to Sony Music Sweden immediately after the series came to an end with his debut single, Higher peaking at number #1 days after it's release, subsequently followed by a number #1 album, entitled Erik Grönwall.

Erik Grönwall has recently been selected as the new lead vocalist of the group H.E.A.T who in turn made their Melodifestivalen debut in 2009 with the track 1000 miles but nevertheless, Erik will be hoping for a different kind of success with one of his co-writes making it through to the provisional list of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.
